Compare Political Candidates' Priorities and Promises
A Nonpartisan Tool to Help Voters Make Informed Choices
PolicyContrast exists to make candidate priorities clear, neutral and accessible — so voters can make informed choices.
Why It Matters
Voters are often exposed to slogans, endorsements, or headlines, but not the detailed priorities behind eachc campaign. Candidate priorities and promises are frequently dispersed across multiple websites, interviews, and speeches, making them difficult to track and compare.
Many voters do not have the time to research every candidate in depth. Witout clear, accessible comparisons, voting decisions may rely on primarily affiliation or surface-level impressions.
When candidate priorities are presented transparently and side by side, voters can better understand meaningful differences and make more informed decisions.
PolicyContrast addresses this gap by organizing publicly stated priorities and promises from official campaign sources into a neutral, structured comparison format.

How Candidate Priorities and Promises are Presented
This section presents candidate priorities and promises using candidates' own published words. To ensure neutrality and clarity, content is collected directly from official, publicly available sources without interpretation or modification.
Priorities are sourced from candidates' official campaign websites. The first paragraph of a candidate's published platform is displayed as Priority 1, the second paragraph as Priority 2, and so on, up to the first ten paragraphs available.
Promises are collected from candidates' public posts on X. The most recent post excerpt is displyed as Promise 1, followed by subsequent recent posts, up to ten excerpts reflecting statements made directly by the candidate.
PolicyContrast does not edit, summarize, or add commentary. All content is presented verbatim to provide voters with clear, neutral access to candidate-stated priorities and promises.
User Feedback and Aggregated Survey Results
PolicyContrast includes an optional user survey that allows visitors to indicate which candidates, priorities, and promises they find most relevant.
Users may express feedback by liking candidates, as well as individual priorities and promises. Aggregate scores are calculated by dividing the total number of likes by the number of participating users, allowing results to be normalized across different levels of participation.
Survey results are presented using three charts:
- Candidate Chart — the percentage of likes received by each candidate
- Priority Chart — the percentage of likes received by each stated priority
- Promise Chart — the percentage of likes received by each stated promise
These aggregated results reflect how participating users respond to candidates and their publicly stated commitments and are displayed for informational purposes only.
Participate in the PolicyContrast Survey
